What Does a Distribution Box Do in an MVHR System?

A distribution box, sometimes called an MVHR manifold, is an important part of many modern ventilation systems.

Its job is to distribute air from the main MVHR unit into individual rooms throughout the property using smaller radial ducting.

How Does It Work?

The distribution box connects the main ventilation ductwork to multiple smaller ducts. Each duct can then run directly to a supply or extract valve in a different room.

This helps create a neat and organised ducting layout while allowing air to be distributed efficiently around the property.

Why Use a Distribution Box?

A radial distribution system can offer several benefits, including:

  • Simple duct routes to individual rooms
  • Fewer joints within the ductwork
  • Easier installation in new builds and renovations
  • Improved organisation of the ventilation system
  • Easier identification of individual room duct runs

Correct sizing and installation are important to ensure the system provides the required airflow throughout the property.
